Superfast Broadband

What is Fibre Optic broadband?

Fibre optic broadband, commonly referred to as Superfast broadband, is FTTC - it's the first fibre connection made available on the mass market and stands for Fibre to the Cabinet. That's because you're using a brand new fibre link between your local exchange and the cabinet - where the internet comes into your street. The connection between the street cabinet and your premises is still copper (as with your current ADSL connection) but as copper performs well over short distances, you're still able to access high speeds.

What does Superfast fibre broadband mean for my business?

Fibre broadband offers faster download speeds so your business can get more out of it's internet connection than ever before.  With download speeds of up to 40Mb, FTTC is twice as fast as standard 20Mb broadband. Upload speeds are up to 10Mb, ten times the speed of standard broadband, meaning uploading large files takes seconds.

  • Collaborate at high-speed; sharing files with regional offices, partners or remote workers
  • Move your meetings online with better quality video-conferencing
  • Experience higher quality VoIP services
  • Benefit from more responsive hosted business applications
