Backup and Disaster Recovery Server (BDR)
A backup to disk solution capable of backing up 16 servers to a single appliance. A BDR takes 15 minutes snapshots of server data and can act as a near line mirrored server solution enabling you to virtualize any failed server in less than 1 hour.
The BDR appliance takes block level backups of your Server(s) every 15 minutes resulting in multiple, reliable recovery points. Optionally, the backups can be synchronised to hot plug removable drives or another BDR for storage of data offsite, we recommend at minimum a rotation of 2 drives swapped on a daily basis. For confidentiality, all backups are encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption.
ACTS AS A STAND BY SERVER
The BDR server minimizes business interruption from a server failure by restoring server operations in less than 1 hour using advanced virtualization tools.
In addition to this the solution is capable of doing a full server restore to dissimilar hardware. Scheduled backup jobs are monitored 24/7 by our server monitoring platform.
EXCHANGE SERVER COMPATIBLE
The BDR appliance is compatible with Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2007, thus ensuring a full backup of your email system. The BDR can restore individual emails, folders, mailboxes or a full exchange database.
SQL SERVER COMPATIBLE
The BDR appliance is compatible with Microsoft SQL Server, any SQL databases stored on your server will be captured as part of the 15 minute snapshot and can be restored via a simple drag and drop interface.
SNAPSHOT MOUNTING
15 minute snapshots can be mounted on the server as an additional drive letter or folder, data can then be restored by simply dragging and dropping back the files you wish to restore.
ARCHIVING
With the BDR you can archive and restore based on the following time points.
Last 2 Days — In 15 minute snapshots
Last 14 Days — In daily snapshots
Last 5 weeks — In weekly snapshots
Monthly — Since installation (USB drives can also be archived to safe storage as part of your normal backup routine)
REPLICATION OFFSITE
The BDR can replicate all it's stored data to another off site BDR over the internet, this allows for downstream nearline mirrored servers. Alternatively all data can be replicated to removable storage such as high capacity hot plug USB drives. All data is secured with 256bit encryption.
SIMPLE MANAGMENT BY EITHER YOUR INTERAL IT FUNCTION OR NCI
The BDR can be managed by your internal IT function (if you have one) NCI can provide full access and training in order that you can recover emails, files and data from 15 minute snapshots, and virtualize servers for DR testing or live running. Alternatively all standard pricing includes full management from NCI. Files can be recovered simply by calling our help desk or emailing recovery requests to our help desk system mailbox.
